WHOSE IDEA WAS IT? We must never forget that salvation is God's idea, not mankind's. Therefore, God's salvation has an eternal, unfathomable depth. Salvation is the great thought of God, not a mere experience. Experience is the door salvation comes through bringing one into the wholeness of life by the Holy Spirit's power and grace. The Good news, the Gospel, is news about who God is. Jesus never asks of us, commands us to do in following Him that which He does not also empower us by the Holy Spirit, equipping us to do what He has said.

Acts 1:8 Witnessing to the wholeness of the Gospel for all humanity doesn't come "naturally" but supernaturally. For Jesus declared, "...but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and (then) you will be My witnesses..." to all people groups everywhere. Effective witness to the Gospel is supernaturally empowered. It is the Holy Spirit who makes us efficient, effective, and anointed ambassadors who, by Jesus' authority, extend the Kingdom of God into the lives of others.
Ezekiel 33:1-9 "The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman, 3 and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people, 4 then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head. 5 Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’ 7 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give t...
REFUGE Psalm 57:1 "I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until disaster has passed." YES! I will rest in You, Lord God, at ALL TIMES for my adversary does not wait. The Lord God is the only safe place of refuge for a human life.
HIS WORD…or…MY WILL? What are we basing our lives on? Do my feelings, that influence my will, have preeminence or is it God’s Word that shape decisions and action as I follow Jesus?  What will you do? What will you approve of and why? If God has set holy boundaries around human sexuality, it is because the Lord of creation knows what decisions and actions will make for human flourishing. He is not a “killjoy”. He invented sexual intimacy. He wants that physical union to be grounded in a covenantal lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. That is where the benefits flow, where grace undergirds.  Deciding to do your “own thing “ without reference to God, His ways, and His sovereign right to the whole of you, you cannot expect God’s blessings. He will not reinforce rebellion and hard-heartedness. You cannot expect God’s blessing on your life if you don’t care what God says. You cannot avoid the consequences of thinking you know more about your life than the One who cr...
CONFIDENCE Jesus Christ stated clearly, numerous times, that He would be crucified, die and be raised from the dead three days later. It happened just as He said. So, if you are ever tempted to question anything Jesus said, remember His resurrection. His Word is good, reliable and eternally true!
Isaiah 2:5-6  Come, descendants of Jacob,      let us walk in the light of the  Lord ! 6  For the  Lord  has rejected his people,      the descendants of Jacob, because they have filled their land with practices from the East      and with sorcerers, as the Philistines do.      They have made alliances with pagans. This is a word of warning to the church! Spiritual practices from "the East" are forbidden by God because those "ways" are not grounded in God alone. They are at best syncretic, adding to what God has said and done, as if we just need one more bite of that fruit from Eden so that we need trouble God any more to become fully human. The "ways of the East" rely on human initiative. It is human pride that says, "Yes God is good. But I need more than what He has provided in order to "know myself" and to flourish. There is a demonic "pragmatism" that looks at Eastern reli...
