Having had just come from some very focused time in prayer ministry, specifically dealing with spiritual warfare, I have written down some reflections I’m passing on hoping they are beneficial and a blessing.
St. Paul, in his letter to a young congregation of Jesus followers in Ephesus, tells them that there is a very real battle going on aimed at destabilizing, demoralizing our living in any degree of wholeness.
Ephesians 6:10-12 “10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
St. Paul is giving them a “final word” of insight and admonishment after teaching them, throughout the letter to the Ephesians, about the reality of their salvation, God’s faithfulness, their life together as Jesus followers and how it is lived out in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling Presence & power.
The Apostle Paul tells this
congregation (and all of us who now follow Jesus) that God has not left us
defenseless in the face of the spiritual onslaught of those very real demonic
forces that hate us. He describes what God has given to us as “the whole armor
of God”. He states that clothed in God’s armor, we will be able to resist
the enemy in the time of evil; those times of fierce and subtle satanic attack.
Clothed in God’s armor, we will be enabled by God’s doing to stand our ground
in the “day of battle” and still be standing afterward.
