Part Two: On God's Grace:
And yet, we become terrified that if we own what we have done and are capable of doing, somehow God will not love us. We are terrified to own what we have done to others, especially family, because if we admit we have done, what they already know we have done, that love will cease. There is a blindness and a deception at work here, because everyone knows and can see what we have done and they still love us. If they are followers of Jesus, they know that they have been forgiven by grace through faith, and they forgive because they have been forgiven. It’s hard to admit and see the pain we may have caused, but it is astounding to realize, that in the face of what we might never want to admit, we are still loved. We can hold on to our refusal to believe we have been “that bad”, and in so doing, we can block an entrance for the healing of love to touch the place of wounding. We don’t get healed from what we refuse to admit. That doesn’t remove God’s forgiveness. We just stay, sadly, in bondage to the devil’s lies.
