The Law or Grace I just read that someone thinks that all humanity has needed to do all these years to have peace and stability is to have given heed to and kept the 10 Commandments given by God. It is a fact that the rule of law in the western hemisphere is grounded in principle and based on the 10 Commandments, but actually, the Ten Commandments without a new heart and a new spirit, a new nature received by grace through faith as a gift from God through Jesus Christ will not change anything. Humanity is incapable of living the life described by the Ten Commandments of God without a new life, a living relationship of utter dependance upon the God Who gave those commands. The Law was given as God's "straight-edge" to show the crookedness of fallen humanity. It was given to drive us to stop trying to rely on human effort and to only trust in God's grace and mercy ALONE for life to be made whole.
ON MISSION The mission of a follower of Jesus Christ is to walk with God. Walking with God by the power of the Holy Spirit (the only way to do so) will result in us seeing what God is doing. Jesus ONLY did what He saw the Father doing. God calls us to do the same; cooperating with Him through the gifts He gives us. Walking with God will also result in us hearing what God is speaking into the circumstance before us. Jesus ONLY said what He heard the Father saying. God wants us doing the same. How do I know this is true? Jesus said, "As the Father sent me, in the same way I am sending you." In another place Jesus clearly stated, "The things you see Me doing, you will also do, and even greater things because I am going to the Father." He said that He would send the Holy Spirit to anoint all those who would be "born again of the Spirit" so that we might continue to manifest the power of the Kingdom of God, confirming the proclamation of the His death and resu...
GOD'S WORD IS FAITHFUL In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 4, verse 35, Jesus tells His disciples they are going to cross over the Sea of Galilee to get to the other side. He clearly stated that the "other side" was their destination. In the process of crossing, a massive storm came roaring down on them with waves so huge, it threatened to sink the boat. Did the storm alter what Jesus had said? Was the other side now just wistful thinking? No. Satan always tries to stop God's people from simply trusting what God has said. The enemy attempts to distract us with variations on the storm, hoping that we will not remember what the Lord has clearly told us. Jesus simply stood up in the boat and told the wind and waves to "Stop it!" and all became calm in an instant. What Jesus Christ has told us will come to pass. Yes, the storm was a challenge, but it couldn't modify God's Word. When the Lord speaks to you from His Word, making a promise a certainty in your he...
