TRUSTWORTHY
Hebrews
6:16-20
“Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound Himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that He would never change his mind. So, God has given both His promise and His oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us.”
God has made an eternal promise, a covenant commitment that can never be revoked and nothing in creation can ever separate us from. Our hope is not “wistful thinking” but a confidence that the One who has made us His own heirs, joint heirs with Jesus Christ, and now lives His Life within us by the Holy Spirit transforming us (BECAUSE we belong to Him) will finish in us what He has begun.
We have confidence that He, Himself, will provide all the grace we need to live radically transformed lives of obedience motivated by love and gratitude. From start to finish, the work of salvation is the work of God alone. The ability to cooperate with Him, to follow Him and trust in Him daily is His gift to all who have believed Him. This eternal, intimate relationship with the Almighty One, the King of kings and the Lord of lords is His amazing gift. He is always there for us; never far away. He tells us that our very bodies have become a temple of the Holy Spirit and that we are not “our own.” Independence has never been the ground of wholeness, success, or peace.
God will never change Him mind. You
have an eternal security when you are His. Your life will change and keep on
changing to be more and more like Jesus Christ who is Life within you. THAT is
where rest and peace are found as a way of life.
