 HE HOLDS ME

I cling to God because He clings to me. It is the Vine that holds the branches, not the other way around. My confidence and peace in life is not due to any ability I possess or any effort I could ever exert on my own. If I am now truly alive and have meaning and purpose in drawing my next breath, it is because the life I now live, is truly the Life of Jesus Christ being lived in me by the Holy Spirit. 

That is why a follower of Jesus Christ can have confidence to keep following Him when nothing around them seems to make sense.  That is why a follower of Jesus Christ is not shaken by the information overload flooding the world masquerading as “truth” because the believer draws their identity and reference for what is True Truth from the Word of God.

 THE FOLLY OF IDOLATRY Martin Luther said that the human heart is an idol factory. The truth is that we were created to know and live by the gracious rule of and in the Presence of God who created us. Our peace, our understanding of meaning and purpose can only be truly grounded in God who created us for that meaning and purpose. The rebellion of Adam and Eve, their decision to do the opposite of what God said would make for life, resulted in spiritual and ultimately physical death. They chose to believe they needed something more than what God had provided.   WORKING AGAINST ALL HUMANITY 1 Thessalonians 2:15-16 “They fail to please God and WORK AGAINST ALL HUMANITY   as they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins.” WOW! What a startling statement! St. Paul is making it crystal clear that those who oppose and work to prevent the proclamation of the Gospel are actually “working against ALL HUMANITY.” Why would he write that?
