MEANING AND PURPOSE

JEREMIAH 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

EPHESIANS 2:10

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

I have been known to say from the pulpit, "God doesn't shoot blanks." He never does anything for no reason. Everything God has ever created, spoken into being, and declared has purpose, or it would not have been done.

ISAIAH 55:11

"So is My Word that goes out from My mouth. It will not return to Me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

There is meaning and purpose for your life. You are not a mistake or an afterthought. The Cross of Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death, His Resurrection, and His Ascencion all declare that your life has meaning and a purpose. You matter to God! Those who have trusted in Jesus Christ, know this, God has delivered you from the dominion of darkness and translated you into the Kingdom of His Son, Jesus Christ, in Whom you have redemption by His blood, the forgiveness of your sin, all of it.

Up to this juncture in human history, God has spared your life. He has exposed you to His Living Word, Jesus Christ. He has run you down, overtaking you, given you the gift of conviction that you might confess your sin and abandon them in repentance. He has saved you by grace through faith, believing Him.

There are some whose lives have been spared over and over again. How has God spared you? Remember and realize, because you are still breathing, that your life has purpose and meaning! I was told about a guy who had four deadly overdoses: redeemed by Jesus' intervention. I was informed that this same person tried to end his life by three attempted suicides: failed by God's intervention. I saw the Lord Jesus raise a person from the dead because the meaning and purpose of their life was not over. There is purpose and meaning for this one and everyone who will but believe and receive.

God's purpose for you, for me, for everyone broken by sin, is that we become new creations in Christ Jesus. For there is a purposeful, meaningful life to be lived out, lived into by the power of the Holy Spirit. He comes to live the resurrection Life of Jesus Christ in us. God works in those who are His both to will and to do those things He has prepared for us to walk in, live in, experiencing His Presence, His will and to know "meaning."

The "every-dayness" of life, the routine, the relentlessness of it all can make us feel purposeless, but daily life can never alter His purpose. We are easily distracted by the mondain, and our ancient enemy will and does whisper, "It's all meaningless. Your life has no purpose." Please remember with me that Satan is a liar and the father of lies.

The moment you hear that demonic whisper, RISE UP and declare that because you are sons and daughters of God almighty, you have an inheritance kept for you undefiled. Your living has meaning and purpose that nothing can reduce or steal because you are kept by God and none can snatch you out of His Hand. Seek the Face of your Heavenly Father, pray, yield, trust, rely on and hope in the One from whom comes life's meaning and purpose with your name in it.

PRAYER Jesus Christ NEVER taught on what we call "unanswered prayer." James wrote that a divided loyalty between trusting the Lord God for life and at the same time relying on the world's systems to get what you want will result in you not getting anything from God you may have prayed about. God will never reinforce the unbelief that flows from divided loyalty. THAT is not unanswered prayer. That is God saying, "No." to your request. God saying, "No." to your requests is not unanswered prayer. It is His grace. His "No" is just what I would want if I knew what He knows. The Lord also answers with, "Not now; not yet." because we are not yet prepared to receive what we think we need. God works in us both to will and to do His good pleasure. If I am praying for something God wants to do in me and the Holy Spirit is working in me preparing me to receive what God has in store, His "Not yet." is NOT unanswered prayer. As we see...
HEBREWS 10:1-2, 10-18 "The sacrifices under that system ( the Old Covenant) were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship.   If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.   For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.  Under the Old Covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins.   But our High Priest offered Himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then He sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.   There He waits until His enemies are humbled and made a footstool under His feet.   For by that one offering He forever m...
IN GOD'S MAGE Genesis 1:26   "Then God said, “Let  us  make adam (the Hebrew is 'adam' meaning mankind) in  our  image, after  our  likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” The use of plural "us & our" should not be discounted. Even in the Shema, the foundational declaration of God's chosen people, "Hear or Israel the Lord (plural) our God (plural), the Lord (plural) is ECHUD (meaning one but not singular). Rabbis say that was to denote the fullness of God. St. Athanasius agreed. Father, Son and Holy Spirit...the fullness of our God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.  Adam, by the way, is the generic word for mankind. It becomes the proper name for the first man created by God. It is important to see that God called their name (male and female) ADAM. Genesis 5:1-2 ...
