STRANGE QUESTIONS
Why do we ask God to give us what He has already supplied? Why do we ask God to give us what he has already put in us?
I think such strange question arise from the simple fact that we are not yet as saturated by His Word clearly declared and written down for our instruction as God intends. He is clear about what who His is and what He has done as incredible as it seems, it's eternally true!
He has already cut off our old nature (Colossians 2:11-12) and has given us a new heart, a new spirit, a new heritage, a new spiritual DNA. And that is at work is us NOW. It is able to do far above and beyond what we could ever ask or imagine by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us, the Resurrection Life of Jesus Christ now permanently dwelling in us.
Contrary to some, we don't have two natures warring within us. The residue of the old nature, defined in Scripture as "the flesh" is always in conflict with the Life of God at work in us. We are called to walk in the Spirit given to us, living in us now. God promised that the good work HE has begun is us, HE will bring to completion. The Holy Spirit works in us both to WILL and to DO God's good pleasure towards us. In Jesus' own Words, "Fear not little flock! It is the father's good pleasure to GIVE YOU THE KINGDOM!"
Forgiven, made to stand before the Father holy, blameless and beyond reproach has been what God has given to all who have put their faith in Jesus Christ and what He has done for us, a salvation we could have never initiated and never brought to completion. He has done this for us, and it is NOW at work within us producing the fruit of His character.
Nothing can separate us from the Love of God. He has made us one with Himself. He has united us to Himself as a branch to the Vine who is Jesus. Guess what life is flowing in the branch? It is the Eternal Life of Jesus Christ in us working by the Holy Spirit's indwelling presence to cause our lives to change and be transformed into His own image.
Salvation is what God does, what He gives and has already given to His children. That is WHY we can become who we are meant to be in the Mind of God. Read, mark and inwardly DIGEST what God has already given to you, already put in you.
THAT will give you a grateful, thankful, rejoicing heart no matter what!
